Bio/Profile
Anthony has been an actively involved community band and military musician – playing euphonium, baritone and/or trombone – since the early/mid 1990s, not missing an Australian National Band Championships as a participant since first competing in 1991’s Junior Euphonium section at Adelaide’s Centennial Hall. He has been part of five A Grade Brass and Concert wins: with K&N Brass in 1992 and 2002, Elder Conservatorium Wind Ensemble in 1994 and 1995 and Unley Concert Band in 2016. Among state solo wins, Anthony was SABA Junior Champion of Champions in 1994. Since 1995, he has served part-time in the Royal Australian Navy where he has been one of RAN Band South Australia’s Petty Officers since 2007.
Anthony has served on the South Australian Band Association’s Executive committee almost continuously since the mid-1990s, when appointed Public Relations Officer while completing a Journalism degree at the University of South Australia, and as a vice-president or president since 2012.
Away from music, Anthony is a life member of the Kensington District Cricket Club after scoring more than 400 matches over more than 30 seasons and literally counting. During the week, Anthony has since 2003 put his radio news background to public benefit in the employment of state and federal parliamentarians.
