About

Unley Concert Band was founded in 1997 and has enjoyed a successful and rich history. We are a diverse group of approximately 60 members, and aim to offer players and audiences the highest quality of community musicianship in Adelaide. We strive to perform music at a high level from advanced wind band repertoire to lighter entertainment music. 

We have had several talented musical directors over the past twenty-seven years of the band. From 2021, our current Musical Director is Colin Prichard, the Principal Trombonist of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

We are also an active marching band that perform at many different egagements such as ANZAC commemorative parades, Christmas pageants, and councili engagements. The band has won 9 National marching band titles in its history.

Over the course of the band's history we have won various other accolades, placing first in the South Australian A Grade Concert Band Championships 12 years in a row, placing first in the 2016 A Grade National Band Championships, and equal first in the 20117 Nationals Band Championships as well as numerous placings throughout the past 20 years. 

In 2009, the band travelled to Europe to participate in commemorative ANZAC services as well as civillian performances across Belgium and France, culuminating in the Dawn Serive at Villers Bretonneux as well as performing in services in Bullecourt, the La Flamme ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and at the Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate, Ypres, Belgium three times. 

The band also released a CD, Uniquely Unley, in 2010, and was involved in the South Australian feature film, Swerve, released in 2011.
